Ice Storm Jan 09

Warning: I'm a bit dramatic in these videos, but it isn't often that I have to deal w/ weather like this!!! Please forgive me!
video video
I shot these two videos just as the sun was going down about 5:30pm this evening and although I hate the sound of my recorded voice, I'm posting these so you can hear all the branches breaking all around me. As I get more videos, I'll post them here w/ these. All the bangs you hear is the ice breaking the branches. The 1st one is from my back deck & the 2nd one is on my front porch.

These last 2 videos are not really what can be seen, but what can be heard - except at one point, there's a flash, which is a transformer. And, when I'm talking about the tree directly in front of me, I'm meaning that the branches are hanging over the house located behind my house and they're swaying badly.

I'm posting these photos in the order they were taken
This is the same tree shown in the last 2 photos.

This is the branch I talk about in one of the videos above that's resting on my house

This is the dangerously low hanging power line I mention in a video above

These last 2 photos are later shots of the same tree in the 1st photo - Notice the break in the branch.

My dish is out now & it's 11pm - Another branch just fell on my roof. I'm going out to see the damage.

Shortly after I checked for damage from that fallen branch, another one fell on my roof. Then later, another one. It's shortly after 2am now & I can't sleep, but I'm so tired & my head is hurting. Every time I hear limbs on the side of the house start falling, I jump up. I've about had it with all this, it's so unnerving!!!

Now, it's snowing

These are scary videos, Tricia. I hope your house is okay and that you haven't lost power. Stay safe.

Wooo Tricia. This is horrible. I hope and pray that it doesn't get worse and you don't lose your electricity.

We got lucky this time. All we got was rain.

Take care and stay SAFE.
Hugs,
Betsy

I feel for you. The noise those trees make when they are breaking from the ice is a horrible sound. We had about 6 branches break but luckily it didn't bring down our powerline. And like you it gave me a horrible headache. Sleeping is almost impossible. Hopefully this will be the end of the ice storms for this year. Take care.

Spectacular and scary videos and sound! Having experienced a severe ice storm, I can sympathize about how out of control these situations are. I hope all is better soon!

How awful to go through this! I'm so sorry. What a truly eerie sound! May God bless you with His peace, so you can rest. I hope you don't lose power.

May I borrow pics from your post and link back to you???

I am wondering how you survived through it all...if you get a chance give us an update. We didn't get the ice and sleet, thank God. Got several inches of snow though.

That cracking sound is un-nerving...plus the limbs landing on your house. Just hope all is okay with you.

Scary videos, are the branches still breaking?

We had an ice storm here last night. We got .21 inches of ice.

This is what we get instead of snow. But not usually this heavy. That's a bunch of ice!
