Scenic Sunday

This photo is my nephew, Greg, off in the distance at my parent's farm on the 4 wheeler turning around to get more firewood. He's leaving Monday to go back to Florida for work, seeing how there isn't any here. He's watching a movie right now while I'm posting this - Texas Chainsaw Massacre-The Next Generation - NOT MY KIND OF MOVIE, even with Matthew McConaughey & Renee Zellweger.

Natalee Holloway

Natalee Holloway (age 18) has been missing since May 30th, 2005 - 4 years. She'd gone on a high school graduation trip to Aruba & I've followed her story since then, I think mainly because my daughter is the same age as her. Shortly after Natalee's disappearance, my daughter went on a graduation trip to Florida w/ my parents & sister - Natalee's story was in the news the whole time my daughter was gone & long after she returned. Every time I hear anything about Natalee on the news, I always stop what I'm doing & find out what's going on. There's incidents that happen like this in people's lives, ones that stick in your mind, and this is that one for me. I can't imagine how her mother, Beth Twitty, must have felt & must still feel to this day - but I'm hoping & praying that someone (the person who supposedly dumped her body in the ocean & can't live with the guilt any longer) finally comes forward & tells the truth. Whether they do or not, the murderer will suffer the consequences of his actions when he meets his maker.
If you'd like to read more about Natalee, here's her story.

I also have GREAT news on Dustin - I told you about in Prayers Needed & After Surgery. He's been out of the hospital since Tues of this week & on his way home from Memphis he'd had a vomiting incident that caused his parents to take him back to the hospital. However, the doc didn't re-admit him, just told them to stay in Memphis another night so they'd be close in case something more happened. So, they headed out the next day & made sure Dustin got plenty of rest for that trip - They realized quick how little he could do in a day's time from that 1st trip. So, he's home & doing quite well. I went over & saw him Wed and although several family members & visitors were there, Dustin was in good spirits and it was only after a while of the kids being noisy and running through the house that Dustin got tired & started getting a headache. He doesn't complain at all though. Someone has to ask him if he's ok or what's wrong before he'll tell you. He's so tough, it's unreal - Plus, all he's taking for pain is Ibuprofen, which is good, but is also unreal, to me, after brain surgery! I'll keep you all informed as I hear more. Thank you to everyone for your prayers - Very much appreciated!

I wish I'd have taken a photo of Dustin Wed, but I didn't. I'll get one over the weekend & post it later!

These photos were taken of the same tree last fall. I love this tree in the fall - It's so gorgeous! I posted these fall photos back in November 08, so some of you may have seen them before - but I wanted to show them again for comparison.

I don't know what possessed Madea to run past me & up the tree, but she scared me for a minute til I realized I had to get a shot of her.

For another view of Madea up the tree in which several people had mistaken her for a bear cub... click here.

After Surgery

He's awake! Dustin is actually awake after BRAIN SURGERY - I'm sooo happy - He wasn't suppose to wake up til they let him tomorrow night! If you notice in this pic he has one thumb up & in the pic BEFORE his surgery, he had 2 thumbs up - but, that's to be expected after BRAIN SURGERY! Thank GOD he's doing good - I love it!!!
His momma is exhausted, but she's hangin' in there!

Prayers Needed

This is Dustin, my friend Jennifer's son, who's 12 yrs old & in brain surgery right now as I'm typing this. I haven't heard from Jennifer since yesterday morning, so I don't know any details about what exactly is going on with him, but I just want to ask everyone to keep this little boy in your prayers! I'll update as more information comes in.

UPDATE: Dustin has made it out of surgery & is doing good. The tumor was at the left ventricle, but they didn't have to do a shunt to drain the spinal fluid. He's in ICU as all brain surgery patients are at this time, but his vitals were strong throughout the whole surgery & there was little to no bleeding. If he continues to do as good as he's doing now, they'll allow him to wake up tomorrow afternoon/evening & he'll be in the hospital for about a week.
When they ran the 3 hr long MRI yesterday, they made a model of Dustin's brain & used that to guide them in & maneuver around to remove the tumor. Isn't that amazing!
I'm still asking you to continue to pray for Dustin, because he isn't out of the woods yet.
I'll continue to update as information comes in.

Thank you so much everyone!

Watery Wednesday

Join us all, along w/ Ms Saxy, over at Watery Wednesday! Show off your water shots!

More tips for everyone:
3) Crayon marks on walls? A damp washcloth dipped in baking soda - wipe down the wall.

4) Permanent marker on appliances/counter tops - Rubbing alcohol on a paper towel.

UPDATE: I just found out this morning (Wed) that my friend, Jennifer's son, who's 12 years old, has a baseball size brain tumor - they're at a St. Jude's affiliated hospital in Memphis, TN today doing all kinds of tests that will tell them if they need to do a biopsy or surgery tomorrow. Please include this little boy, Dustin, in your prayers!

12 Noon: He's gone in for a 3 hour long MRI - I'll update further as it comes in. I can hardly stand the "not knowing"!

Peaceful

Photobucket

I received an email a while back with all kinds of tips & tricks & I thought I'd share them with you, so, I'm going to include a couple w/ my posts. I haven't put them to the test, myself - But if you try them out, let me know how it goes.
1) Cut SOS pads in half - It's more economical to throw away half a pad due to the inevitable rusty & smelly whole pad. Plus, the SOS pad helps sharpen your scissors.

2) Blood stains on clothes? Pour hydrogen peroxide on a cloth & wipe off the blood. Supposedly works every time!

If you don't remember, this is Shawnee, my mom's Australian Shepherd. She loves to be the center of attention & she's always beside us at the farm, all over the place!

Do you notice anything different w/ her eyes?

The Farm

I like this shot because it looks as if part of it is in motion & part of it is standing still, but I was the one in motion - I was on the golf cart at my parents farm. Please click on the photo to enlarge & get a better look to see what I mean. Pay close attention to the wood piles, which are clearer - then the trees in the background are blurry. I think it's pretty cool how it turned out!

I guess I really need to explain "the farm" to you all. See, I didn't grow up there - We lived closer to town while I was growing up. My parents always had the property, they just hadn't done anything w/ it til AFTER us kids were gone (dangit). Then they started cleaning it up & making it look the way it does today... a park! Us kids, (me, my 2 brothers, & my sister) were out there almost every weekend throughout my 20's & early 30's, so we've been able to spend A LOT OF TIME out there & we've all had our share of fun - We've made a lot of memories on that farm!
Mom & dad are the ones that started calling it the farm & I tried to get them to call it "the ranch" or something other than a farm, because there wasn't any animals out there, except horses, for a long time. But, the farm stuck - So, it's "the farm" now.
Have a great weekend, take care, & GOD bless!
