Sepia Scenes - 1951

Isn't she a SWEEEETHEART! Look at those blond ringlets!
Meet my momma, Margaret - They call her Peggy for short!
She's a little over 2 years old in this pic taken in 1951!

Shown above is my mom & her brother, my uncle Jerry (18 mnths older than mom),
& was taken around the same time as the top pic.

They grew up in Webster Groves, Missourah.
Their parents, my grandparents, purchased the house & property in 1949 when my mom was 6 mnths old & they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1986 while living there!
My grandpa passed away in 1993 & g'ma lived there til the place had to be sold in 1996 when she could no longer take care of herself - she passed away in 2003.
So, they lived there 47 years!

I had to darken both pics because they were both really really bright!

The innocence of youth, looking so sweet in sepia. It was a different time, and truly looks in sofy sepia. Nice picture, wonderful family!

I have no idea how your blog has gotten by me - maybe because there are just so many CDPBs these days. Really glad to see that SE MO is represented. Love the old pix- the second one looks a lot like me and my sister at about the same time.

aww... sweet little girl and with her brother too. Looks like you did a great job replacing some of the color lost with age! So nice stopping by to visit with you!

Super pictures! However, they do make me feel old! In 1951 I was six years old, older that your mother! My mother, who is almost 89, still lives on the family farm in East Texsas where she was born and where her ancestors have lived since the mid-1800s. So I know of what you speak! Even if I am old!

I absolutely love seeing these old photos. I never get tired of them. In fact I posted one myself tonight. That's great that they stayed in that same home for so long. You don't see that kind of thing much anymore.

I love these old family photos, Tricia. The innocence of childhood comes through.
You did a great job restoring them..

That is so nice that your grandparents lived in the same house for all those years.

P.S. I also feel old now. Oh well, I'm still here.

Sure don't see much of that anymore.

Wow! What a fascinating post! Your mom, though, is younger than I am by quite a few years! Yikes!

Lois Anne and I have been married 52 1/2 years! Hope for a few more!

But where is this Missourah place? ;-))

Your mom and my mom are almost the same age which probably makes you and me... never mind ;-)
Wonderful with the photos though!

How cute! She looks like she's not too sure about having her picture taken in that first shot.

Great photos and history. Your mom, reminds me of pictures of my sister Margaret (Peggy). She was born in 1950 and there are pictures of her looking so similar with blond curls.

It is impressive that photographs of the monochrome shine.
Probably the reason may be because memories glisten.

Thank you for showing precious photographs.

From the Far East.
Best regards.
