Macro Monday

When you have a subject where the middle jets outward, how do you photograph it?
Should I focus on the flower itself or the center that jets out?

I love how you've captured the details!

I don't know either, but those are gorgeous shots!

Tricia--- beautiful shots!

And to answer your questions... it depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want the whole flower in focus you will have to change your aperture to f/18-f/22. Quite often I will focus on the tip with changing apertures to see what I like best.... but that's just me. Also you can change the angle of your shot so that more of the flower and stamen are in focus at the same time.
Hope that helps! The flowers are gorgeous no matter how you shoot them!

I think the focus on the center is the better way to go.
The other is interesting, but lacks the punch of the second shot. Excellent detail in the second shot.

beautiful details!

I think both are great and I think you should continue to take (and post) both versions.

It doesn't matter. Either or both is fine. And these photos are more than fine - they are tres magnifique! In this instance, I rather like the first one best...you've got such delicious detail in those petals.

And thank you very much for all of your wonderful comments...they were delightful and I laughed at a couple of them!

Hope you have a great week!

They are both beautiful....I like the second one best!
I'm with Wendy, it just depends on what you are trying to achieve.
You must have a macro lens!!! I have a close up lens but not a true macro(I just learned that)
I am taking a macro class this Saturday, wish you were here to go too! No telling what I will buy/ha

FABULOUS.......What a splendid portrait of this elegant flower, Tricia!!!!

(hmm, good question...: I am not so good in this, but often I do double focusing; taking the "middle" level!)

ciao ciao elvira

I like the second one best. I have some macros from the summer of a white hibiscus but they are not nearly as stunning as yours!
