Scenic Sunday - Markham Springs

The spots you see in the sand are actually water & air bubbling up from the springs.
The Bubbling Springs, Markham Springs, Missouri July 2010

What I thought was the only spring there was small & I'd never found a sign that told how many 'gallons a day' flowed from it - however, I did find a web site that says there's actually 6 springs that flow into the pond on the property producing
'five million gallons a day'.
I knew it had to be small compared to other springs I've been to, but it's a really pretty place to visit.
The article also says that Buffalo Bill Cody once visited the springs...
Impressive for SeMo.
Near Willimasville, Mo

Hi Tricia :)
hai ragione, il luogo è veramente incantevole da visitare.
La natura del tuo mondo è molto bella.
E' un posto per far scorrere meglio solo l'acqua, oppure serviva a suo tempo, per l'elettricità ?
Buona giornata ;)

That building is so beautiful and you did a great job at capturing it.

That is a beautiful stone building. The springs are a fascinating pool that is deceptive in its production of water. A fine set of pictures.

the place is lovely, makes me feel like i'm lost in the woods,
such calming and cool shots.

Forgive my blatant ignorance but could you lie in the springs like a mud jacuzzi or would it burn my ass off? Buffalo Bill is a legend.

This is a gorgeous place! But what is the building? At first I thought it contained restrooms, but now I don't think so.

Silver Springs here in Ocala pumps about 1/2 million gallons every day, I believe. It is the sources of the Silver River and the Withlacoochee River with flows into the St. Johns and then into the Atlantic near Jacksonville. Supposedly the spring water is 99.9% pure. I don't believe it.

Have a wonderful day thar in Missourah!

Thanks for the info. I thought it was something like that but I really don't know what a grist mill is...
