Scenic Sunday - Alley Spring & Mill

circa 1933

Mouse Over This Image To See It In Color

Alley Spring & Mill is, by far, my favorite place anywhere around here -
I could spend days exploring the grounds!
I don't want to shove the history of the place down your throats, because you're probably not as interested in it as I am...
I just want to shove the pictures at ya!  =) LoL!
Wikipedia:
The scenic Alley Mill, or "Old Red Mill" is located 6 miles west of Eminence, Missouri on Hwy 106
The first mill was built in 1868, but the current Alley Mill was built in 1894 & originally painted white.

I was grateful for the mouse-over colour version. So much cosier than B&W. Lovely scenes though. I can see why you like to spend time there.

Great shots! I love the mouse over - the color version is gorgeous, too, but the sepia one imparts such a powerful mood. Fantastic!

All of the pictures are gorgeous ---and like you, we love old historical places.

LOVE IT!!!! The pictures are just wonderful Tricia. I would like to explore that area too. I could stay forever--well almost. Great job. The mouse over didn't work for me but tell me how to do that. I don't have photoshop though. MB

This is a very scenic place and I can see why it's your favorite. I like the novelty of your roll over color option.
The black and white photos are done very well and you've chosen subjects that look good in that mode.
Very nice post today, Tricia!

Amazing shots Tricia, they remind me of long walks in the local woods over here that we would go on as kids.

I was going to say this place is older than I am! Amazing it is still standing. Obviously, someone has cared for it...

You've outdone yourself today - so many beautiful photos. I like the b&w, the color and the sepia. They all work with this subject matter!

I can also see why this would be one of your favorite places...I could envision myself wandering about there for hours ... 'course I might be lost ...

These are beautiful pictures of the mill. I like the photo that changes color when the mouse is rolled over it. And you would never bore me with the history of the places you visit.
