Sepia Scenes - 1951

Isn't she a SWEEEETHEART! Look at those blond ringlets!
Meet my momma, Margaret - They call her Peggy for short!
She's a little over 2 years old in this pic taken in 1951!

Shown above is my mom & her brother, my uncle Jerry (18 mnths older than mom),
& was taken around the same time as the top pic.

They grew up in Webster Groves, Missourah.
Their parents, my grandparents, purchased the house & property in 1949 when my mom was 6 mnths old & they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1986 while living there!
My grandpa passed away in 1993 & g'ma lived there til the place had to be sold in 1996 when she could no longer take care of herself - she passed away in 2003.
So, they lived there 47 years!

I had to darken both pics because they were both really really bright!

Textured Country

Here's the 1st photo I experimented w/ using texture, (my Sky Watch Friday photo w/ texture was the 2nd one)... I'm not gonna go hog wild w/ it, but I've seen lots out there in blog-land & just wanted to try it out... I'm not really sure what photo texture is even suppose to look like & this one is probably too bright, but I think it looks pretty cool.

Sepia Scenes - Shadow Play

I opted for a lighter sepia this week because I've been experimenting.
The sun was really bright the day I shot this photo, so there's a lot of shadow play here.

Watery Wednesday - Frozen At The Farm

Credit goes to my mom for this photo, I just converted it to b&w - not that there was much color to it, because it's a winter scene,
but I'm pleased w/ the result.
Thanks mom!
Watery Wednesday!

BTW - The birdhouse from yesterday's post was man made & there are a few residents from time to time,
but not as much as w/ regular birdhouses! smiles =)

Camera Critters - Intense Look

I've posted a similar shot of Chloe before, but I thought this one deserved an appearance, too, because she has such an intense look on her kitty face.
Maybe it's just me!

Sepia Scenes - Where'd The Time Go?

This picture was taken about 20 years ago at Old Greenville bridge just north of Poplar Bluff on St. Francois River.
It was flooded that day, so I carried my daughter through the water to sit there on the rocks to have our picture taken - she was 4 or 5 & I was about 20... yes, I had her very very young.
I don't remember what kind of camera it was, but obviously not a good one and I can't make up my mind whether I like the original below or the sepia tone above better.

Enhanced

Last summer at Lake Wappapello - but no storms.
Truth is, I enhanced this image to make it look like a storm was brewing!

Blue Clear Sky

I can't help it, I just wanna see this kind of sky again - I'm sick of winter!
Plus, it snowed again today & I had to drive home from my parent's place in this crap.
Don't get me wrong, it's really pretty to watch falling snow, but I want it to disappear as soon as it falls... like it did this morning - but then it started again!

Sepia Scenes - An Old Time HHR

Tuesday February 2nd 2010

Not really old time... this HHR belongs to a co-worker & is actually pretty new, but I think it looks good in sepia. Shot last Friday during the snow storm.

Watery Wednesday - Autumn Reflections

I've had this as my header photo before, but I don't think I ever posted it.
Had to crop a bit because the sky was very dull that day.

In God We Trust

February 1st 2010

I have a reminder note taped to the top of my computer monitor at work (where I really need it the most) that says, "Lord, help me through this day". That same reminder is also on my cell phone at start-up.
I'm working on my list from '8 answers to 8 questions' & my 7th answer to question 7 was to trust God.
This is another reminder for me and everyone out there that we need to pray & trust in the Lord.

It seems that my 3rd answer to question 3, '8 Things I Look Forward To' is coming true, too.
My sister is pregnant & due in September! Congratulations Jessica & Matthew!
They've been married since May 2008 & have been trying to get pregnant for a while now, so I wish them a healthy happy baby!
