Flood 2011 - Lake Wappapello

1st - You simply must swing by & check out comparison shots
that by brother, Brian at Terrell Texas Daily, posted yesterday...
to show just how high the flood waters actually got!
You won't believe it!
I keep hearing that they're keeping an eye on the levee,
but they opened downtown today, so that's good news! =)

Lake Wappapello, Missouri - April 26th 2011 - Mouse Over to see Original

Entrance to People's Creek - note the water level on the street light thru the trees.
There's a whole section of camp grounds, a beach, & docks down there...
or should I say, there WAS!

Not real sure what this cove is named, but if you turn left at the very end
(top of the pic), you'd see the spillway.
I didn't think fish would bite in a flood...?

Black River east of Poplar Bluff from Hwy 60 Bridge.

Oh my gosh! Your brother runs Terrell Tx Daily?! Too funny! Small world. I've seen his blog via the Terrell Tribune newspaper on-line, and I was actually in Terrell today doing some shopping as I don't live but 1/2 hour away or so. What a small world...

I just hope ALL of the storms are over for this Spring... Gosh--it's been horrible all over the country.

Glad they opened downtown. That's a good sign...

Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy

This flooding is terrible! We have had the WORST weather this spring that I can ever remember.

Glad to hear things are improving. The water looks lovely, even though it can be dangerous.

Oh wow, Trisha! Look how high those waters are. Scary.

I'll definitely check out your brother's blog. Stay safe!

Floods are so destructive. These are an amazing series that show how deep the water has gotten around your lakes and rivers. I hope things are improving by this time.

I see Reporta tricia is on duty. Good!!! Wow floods are impressive right?
We seldom to never have twisters and if there is a odd cloud formation it never touches the ground. Destruction is so terrible everywhere else I felt a little silly posting MY cloud but it was new to me. MB

Brian is your brother? How cool. I'll check out his blog. These are truly scary pics...I heard from another blogger in Memphis that the Mississippi is usually 1 mile wide there but is now 2 miles wide and growing!

Hope you're safe and sound and dry!

And, oh dear, you petted a deer. And some dear hearts and gentle people wouldn't believe you? That a shame. But I believe you. Without picture proof! :-)

Gosh, those are some swollen waters. Hope you are able to stay safe. Mother Nature can sure turn violent and unpredictable. My best to you and yours!

That much water is just incredible! I'm glad that you have been safe and that it appears to be getting better.
Our snowfall here this winter was twice what it was the previous year and we expect some flooding too, but we will have nothing like what you have shown.
