Annual Dogwood Azalea Festival in Charleston, Missouri

There's several streets you can drive or ride a horse & buggy in Charleston, Missouri when the Dogwoods & Azaleas bloom where the lawns are magnificent! There's old turn of 2 centuries ago houses & newer ones, too, that are all very beautiful & really add to that southern style... several of them reminded me of New Orleans... I'll show more of them later this week!
The home in the collage (built in 1899) was one my aunts & I actually got to tour & the man pictured above, Bob whose 90 yrs old, was our tour guide & one who knew what he was talking about... he lived in the home in the 40's for 3 years! =)
The rounded section of the porch was one of my favorite spots, but I'll show a few more later.
The glass case that Bob is standing next to holds several artifacts found on the property from the Indians & from the Civil War... I love history & this is a very interesting historical home!!!

Ooooooh, how gorgeous! The only other place I have seen nearly so pretty was the Azalea garden at Callaway Gardens near Atlanta.

Beautiful photos! What a glorious time of year. It's wonderful that the city does it up big with tours and horse-drawn carriages. Wish I were there!

Oh how fabulous, Tricia... Looks like what we saw last week in Asheville at Biltmore... BUT--we didn't get to see those gorgeous old homes nor get to ride in a horse-drawn carriage.... LOVE it.
Hugs,
Betsy

Amazing, Tricia...we love azaleas and had numerous azalea bushes at our old house in Ocala. This time of year is the best and I wish we could have been there for the festival!

I like the idea of this kind of annual event. The blossoms are so pretty and so profuse. The whole series is very informative and interesting. It would be fun to visit there some day.

How pretty! Most of our dogwoods here are white, but there are two pink ones in my neighborhood and I always look forward to seeing them.

The azaleas and dogwood are beautiful. I think it would be a real treat to take a carriage ride along those streets.

Wow, what gorgeous color! I've always loved dogwoods and wished they would grow here in Interior Alaska. I'm looking forward to seeing more photos from your tour.
