Flood 2011 at Lake Wappapello

All shots taken April 26th 2011
Corner of Hwy 60 E & T Hwy toward Lake Wappapello, Missouri.
This isn't a lake... there isn't suppose to be any water in this view.

Redman Creek restrooms... note the water level on the volleyball net.

Looking at Redman Creek area from Lookout at opposite side of dam...
note the water level on the basketball goals.

Lake Wappapello Spillway

The spillway is behind me here

Looking down at the spillway from the dam.

Sundowner's Marina

I think the storms are over, at least for a few days!
I just want to say again that I will visit everyone...
I've been taking lots & lots of pics & then trying to edit & post them
is taking up quite a bit of my time,
but I would really like to show my flood shots...
so don't give up on me! =)

T Hwy was shut down today due to HIGHER water levels shown here!

You can just hear the rushing water through that spillway. First a winter of storms; now a spring of storms.

Glad it is over for you all, Tricia. We had the storms today --all day long. Lots of damage in TN and Alabama. We are lucky here not to have had anything severe... It's been a scary Spring so far..
Hugs,
Betsy

Flooding like that certainly displays the hugeness of nature's powerful events. Sometimes we think we are in control...

Floods are just mean.
Remember when I showed the video of the river flooding and the nois was incredible.
You are our reporter out 'covering the Flood'. Good job. MB

Hopefully you'll have a long spell of dry weather so the water will have a chance to go down!

Tammy said...

Hopefully it will dry out soon...for all of us!

It has definitely been a wild spring for you folks down south. I'm not looking forward to May around here -- that's our stormy month.

Stay safe!

Tricia - I've been thinking and worrying about you the last couple of days! The Wall Street Journal has shown photos specifically of the flooding in Poplar Bluff in the last two days of issues!
Sending you dry, sunny day wishes!

Judy said...

Wow Tricia, I hope you all are done now with the rain and the river recedes.

Stacey Dawn said...

Oh wow - sure hope and pray the storms are over!

A fine and very interesting series. I've been thinking of you and wondered if you're near the flooded places...
Judging from the basketball goals this water is quite deep. I'm glad you can take pictures of it. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of them.

Spring of storm! Dry out! Dry out!

What a lot of water! We have flooding going on here too, but nothing like this!

Rose said...

Hi Tricia, we got back home late yesterday. We saw lots of areas on the way that looked like this, and our own Wabash River is about as flooded as I have ever seen it.

I hope you have survived all the storms. We are fine.

Destructive no doubt, but also pretty to look at. I remember your flood pictures from last year. Closer to your home. At least I think it was you :-).

Yi, yi, yi, yi...I've heard more water is coming down the Mississippi...

Like 1927 or worse. Hang in there. Your photos are terrific. Just be careful!

Thanks for posting the pictures. My mom lives in this area while I live overseas. Now I can see exactly what it happening.
