The Last of Devil's Well

Orton Effect

Vintage effect - I love the light & shadows in this one

Looking up through the mouth of the cave

Last flight down into the well...
Behind me is nothing but a locked steel cage door and it's blacker than black down there,
but oh so much cooler & there's water dripping everywhere.
We tried taking several pics, with & without flash, but none of them turned out at all.

I liked the moss growing on the steps, it's kinda pretty.
We couldn't see any of whats pictured above...

This will be the last of The Devil's Well series... until I go back in the fall when the trees have turned
and IT ISN'T 100+ degrees out! =)

Don't forget to swing back by the last episode of Barn Charm & visit the latest participants

I'm sorry you could get any pictures from the bottom, but all of these are wonderful. I think it's a good idea to wait for cooler temperatures (and autumn color) before going back.

It looks like a beautiful place to spend a hot day, under the canopy of the trees, surrounded by lush green foliage. I do look forward to the fall photos. Those will be stunning!

This is another fine series on the Devil's Well. I like the special effects you used. The description of the exploration of the lake was fascinating too. Nice, informative post.

Tricia, every one of these shots is gorgeous! I really love the first one, and the shots of the moss growing on the steps/platform is awesome! I don't blame you for staying out of the heat - there is a nice waterfall splashy picture up on my blog right now and I dedicated it to all of you suffering from the heat. :)

Well, that's quite a place. And a well is a deep subject. And when I heard it was the Devils Well, well, I asked the Devil about it and he said "Well, it's one hell of a well." "Well," I said, "you needn't curse." And he said, "Go to heck!"

Seriously, this is a fascinating place...
