Drive By

I took this waaay back in 2006 or 2007 (at my parent's farm) with my old camera,
so I know it's not all that great...
but, we were driving by the fire & I just swung around & snapped...
I love how the trees in the background are blurred, but some leaves are in focus,
the wood piles are in focus, and the brush pile and fire is partially blurred & partially in focus...
it's a real action/motion shot!
And, the b&w version is much more detailed & dramatic!
I've tried to redo it & just can't get the same look.

I love this shot!! I really like the color one - just makes me wish I was there! I love being outside and that looks like an amazing place.

Good cameras REALLY do make a difference, don't they??? I never realized that until we got our Canons... Now I look back at some of my old photos and am shocked at the quality...

I do like your picture though.
Hugs,
Betsy

Both images strike me as very effective drive-by shots.
Each has their own strengths. You did a fine job with such an impromptu shot. Very well done.

I actually smell the wood burning... a familiar scent of childhood.

Great shot.

Lovely, Tricia! The B&W is great, but right now, all that green looks really good to me. (Come on spring!)

Your shot in black and white really shows the smoke off so well.........what an oportunity while driving by.

The trees, with all the underbrush cleared out, look so pretty. Someone's been working hard on this land.

One of the great things about a DSLR is that you can capture moving objects much better than with a p&s...but I like this a lot - no need to apologize. And it's really never about the camera...it's the person behind the camera as you've proven over and over again!
