Baby Jesus in the manger.
Mom's Snowman
All taken Christmas day at my parent's place.
We spent the day visiting, watching for the big blizzard to start that never did,
laughed & played with Landon, prayed & ate...

It was a truly great Christmas with family - Thank you, God! =)
It started snowing just before 5pm here in southeast Missouri
& there's a Winter Storm Warning in effect with a 90% chance of heavy snow fall tonight
& 2-4 inches of accumulation expected...
It's falling & very beautiful, but not heavy, yet.
I looked out a few minutes ago & there's a pink hue in the sky,
so I got my camera out & tried to capture it, but not a chance!
The street lights cast a green glow & it's awful!
I've changed settings & tried different lighting, but canNOT seem to capture it.
Any suggestions?
These neon colors do NOT suit me & I'm gonna have to change them pretty soon! =0
I love the festivity, but just can't seem tolerate em! LoL!

I always have a hard time with evening light as well. I think a tripod and slow shutter speed? Hmmm....not sure. Hope you stay cozy and safe Tricia!

Love the baby Jesus! We haven't gotten any snow lately here in West Virginia. I wish I could help you but I have no idea. I agree with you with the pink font.
Happy New Year!

Tricia, there are times when the light differences are just too much for our camera meters, and there is simply nothing we can do in one image. One thing to try is to meter on the sky. Another would be to make several different shots, metering in different areas, and then stacking them in PS.
Lovely photos . The street lights can cause what they call sky glow some times when taking photos of the night sky's . If your camera is an SLR it should pick up the colour of the sky that you see . I use a setting of F stop 6.3 and a shutter speed of 1/125 sec and a ISO of 400 with a 55-300mm lens .I have a Nikon D3100 and this is what I take the pinkish orangey sky's with . I do not use a tripod as my lenses have Vibration reduction built in them . Hope this helps just keep trying you will capture it before ya know it ! Have a good day !
P.S we got one and a half feet of snow in the storm Wednesday night !
If you are getting a green cast from the street lights, they must be Mercury vapor lights and there is usually no appropriate white balance icon on a camera for Mercury vapor. If you have the patience, you might experiment with manually adjusting the white balance .
I was thinking the white balance also! Happy New Year n hope you enjoy the snow!
You are doing so great with the new camera! I love these shots. What is your white balance set at? Is it Auto or something else? That might be why you are getting a cast to the colors. If you shoot in RAW you can adjust the colors in Lightroom. LR usually offers a free 30 day trial. Hope to see some snow pics soon, but be safe out there!
Lovely photos, Tricia! I love the cute snowmen! We had a couple of inches of snow today! It does look very pretty on the trees. I wish I could help with your questions, I have a lot to learn myself. I wish you all the best in 2013, Happy New Years!
I love your baby Jesus and snowman- such great captures!
